Stair Days 4.-10.11.2024
Did you know that stair-walking is even equivalent to jogging? Choosing to take the stairs is a small act that has a big impact on your health!
Next week is National Stair Walking Week! (for more information see link: porraspäivät.fi )
CampusMoWe is there to encourage the use of stairs! Walking up the stairs is a choice you can make every day to promote your well-being.
If using the lift is a necessity, taking a small active break by doing some stretches or exercises during the ride can be an equivalent daily act for your health!
- The overall impact of daily physical activity on energy consumption is greater than that of physical activity as a whole, since daily physical activity has an impact throughout the day.
- Climbing stairs increases fitness, as walking up stairs is the equivalent of jogging. 6 minutes of stair walking every day can improve endurance fitness as much as a 45-minute daily walk.
- Climbing stairs keeps your brain fit. Walking one flight of stairs every day for a year rejuvenates the brain by six months.
- It's worth remembering that descending stairs is also effective. Walking down stairs is braking muscle work, which has positive effects on muscle strength in the lower limbs, as well as numerous other good health benefits.
- Walking up the stairs for 2 minutes a day helps learning ability, has a positive effect on sleep quality, improves mood, improves memory.... The list is long!
